Saudi Arabia intercepts Houthi missiles targeting Riyadh, Eastern province
Saudi Arabia's air defenses destroyed three ballistic missiles launched by the Iran-aligned Houthis toward the kingdom, including two targeting the capital Riyadh, as fighting intensifies across Yemen.
The interceptions come as the Houthis report 33 people killed in a coalition air attack on a village near Sanaa. Major-General Turki al-Maliki, the coalition's spokesperson, confirmed the destruction of three ballistic missiles in posts on X, with two targeting Riyadh and another aimed at the Eastern province.
Escalating Violence
Fighting has intensified across Yemen between the Houthis and government forces, who launched the Dawn of Yemen operation last month to retake Houthi-held territory including Sanaa. The Houthi-run Health Ministry reported that Saturday's coalition attacks on the village of al-Shariyah killed 33 people, including eight women and 13 children, with 39 others wounded.
