UH MyChart "back up and running", reportedly recovered from cybersecurity incident - News 5 Cleveland WEWS
University Hospitals announced that its MyChart patient portal is back online after a two-week disruption caused by a cybersecurity incident.
UH took its systems offline after detecting unusual activity on its servers. This action left patients without access to MyChart, a service used to view test results, message doctors, renew prescriptions, and manage appointments.
The health system's hospitals, emergency departments, and doctor's offices remained open throughout the disruption. Patients were forced to rely on other methods for care and communication.
"For many of our patients and the public at large, the availability of MyChart is the sign that UH has recovered from the cybersecurity incident. This will make it easier for us to communicate with patients, get test results and get back to providing the kind of care our patients have relied on for 160 years."
UH has warned that some MyChart features may not be fully functional. Patients can expect a delay in receiving new test results and other information as the system updates.
The health system has also issued a warning to patients. UH says it will never call, text, or email to ask for personal information such as passwords or Social Security numbers. Patients should hang up and call their doctor's office if they receive suspicious messages.
