Russia launched a massive overnight airstrike on Kyiv and surrounding areas, targeting critical infrastructure just days before a scheduled trilateral meeting in Abu Dhabi.

Russian authorities stated that the Northern Bridge was used to transport weapons and the Meridian Plant produces Flamingo cruise missiles. The strikes damaged energy and industrial facilities in the Kyiv region, an electricity substation in the Zhytomyr region, and a cargo vessel in the Black Sea.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed the damage to the Northern Bridge, describing the city's situation regarding power, heating, and water as "extremely difficult." Overnight temperatures in the capital dropped to 0 degrees Celsius.

The Kyiv region's governor, Tymur Tkachenko, reported that energy facilities in three districts had been hit. Ukrainian authorities said one person was killed and eight were wounded in the attack.

The strikes come ahead of a fourth round of trilateral talks between Kyiv, Moscow, and Washington in Abu Dhabi. Previous US-brokered rounds have failed to achieve breakthroughs on territorial and security questions.

US President Donald Trump said on Friday that the war could be close to being settled and envisioned a "big, beautiful agreement" with Moscow involving "all of Europe." A brief local ceasefire in the Russian-occupied city of Oleshky was brokered by US First Lady Melania Trump.
