Supermicro: $19.9 Billion Fiscal Q1 Revenue Nearly Quadruples As AI Data Center Infrastructure Demand Accelerates - Pulse 2.0
Super Micro Computer reported preliminary net sales of about $19.9 billion for fiscal first-quarter 2027, up from $5 billion in the prior-year period, reflecting rapidly growing demand for AI data center infrastructure.
The San Jose, California-based company reported its preliminary unaudited results for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. Quarterly net sales rose about 298% year over year to $11.1 billion in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026. This substantial increase reflects rapidly growing demand for the company's AI data center infrastructure, integrated computing systems, and related hardware solutions.
Supermicro reported GAAP net income of approximately $1.59 billion, compared with $168 million in the corresponding quarter a year earlier. GAAP diluted earnings per share increased to $1.75 from $0.26, while non-GAAP diluted earnings per share rose to $1.81 from $0.35. Gross margin improved to 12.7% from 9.3% in the prior-year quarter, although it declined from 17.5% in the immediately preceding quarter.
Data Center Solutions
The company's portfolio includes AI servers, enterprise computing systems, storage, networking equipment, cooling technologies, software, and infrastructure services. Supermicro's strategy involves delivering complete data center solutions rather than focusing exclusively on individual computing components. Its Data Center Building Block Solutions approach allows customers to configure infrastructure using combinations of processors, graphics processing units, memory, networking systems, storage, power management, and cooling technologies.
The architecture is designed to support a wide range of deployments, including large AI data centers and smaller containerized computing installations. Supermicro has emphasized the importance of accelerating deployment timelines and improving energy efficiency as organizations build increasingly large AI computing environments. Its solutions include liquid cooling and other thermal management technologies intended to support dense computing systems with substantial power requirements.
Financial Position
Supermicro maintains manufacturing and operational capabilities across the United States, Taiwan, Malaysia, and the Netherlands. Its global production network is intended to support the development and delivery of customized computing systems for enterprise, cloud, AI, and edge computing applications. The company reported approximately $6.9 billion in cash and cash equivalents as of September 30, 2026.
Total bank debt and convertible notes stood at approximately $8.6 billion. Supermicro also reported $434 million in cash used by operating activities during the quarter, along with $47 million in capital expenditures and investments. The operating cash outflow highlights the working capital requirements associated with scaling a business that supplies complex, high-value computing infrastructure.
Future Outlook
Looking ahead, Supermicro expects fiscal second-quarter 2027 net sales between $19.5 billion and $21.5 billion. The company forecasts GAAP diluted earnings per share between $1.59 and $1.83 and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share between $1.66 and $1.90. For the full fiscal year 2027, Supermicro anticipates net sales ranging from $72 billion to $82 billion.
These projections reflect the company's expectations for continued demand across AI infrastructure and enterprise computing markets. Supermicro cautioned that its first-quarter figures remain preliminary and unaudited because financial closing procedures and management review processes had not been completed as of the announcement. The final reported results may differ from the preliminary estimates.
