OANDA has appointed Joanna Wilcox as Global Chief Compliance Officer, who also serves as a Director of OANDA Europe Limited and oversees compliance across all regulated entities.

Wilcox brings extensive regulatory experience to OANDA, having spent about nine years at the FCA before working at Spreadex, IG Group, and most recently FXCM. Her LinkedIn profile shows she was Group Chief Compliance Officer at FXCM from October 2024 to November 2026.

The appointment comes amid significant leadership changes at OANDA. In March, FTMO founders Otakar Šuffner and Marek Vašíček became co-CEOs following Gavin Bambury's departure. In June, Lucian Lauerman was promoted to CEO of OANDA Europe Limited.

OANDA has also been restructuring its business, with OANDA Prop Trader migrating clients to FTMO's platform on March 2, 2026. This move allowed OANDA to focus on its core brokerage operations across eight jurisdictions.

Regulatory Background

Wilcox began her career in 2001 as a white-collar criminal defence solicitor at Bark & Co Solicitors. She then spent nearly seven years at Kennedys working on corporate criminal investigations before joining the FCA in 2009.

At the FCA, she managed investigation teams and concluded high-profile cases including Tesco plc in 2014, Worldspreads, LIBOR, EURIBOR, FX manipulation, and the Blue Index insider dealing prosecution.

Her arrival follows a year of change at both firms. Finance Magnates reported in March that FTMO founders Otakar Šuffner and Marek Vašíček became co-CEOs of OANDA as Gavin Bambury stepped down.

Industry Changes

Wilcox's previous employer FXCM has also undergone significant changes. Jefferies, the owner of FXCM, sold the majority of its business to AvaTrade, while Trade Nation acquired its UK client book, as exclusively reported by Finance Magnates.

The hiring of Wilcox signals OANDA's continued focus on regulatory compliance as the forex and CFD industry faces increasing scrutiny from regulators worldwide. Her experience at both regulatory and broker positions positions her well to navigate this complex landscape.

OANDA operates across eight jurisdictions and has been working to strengthen its compliance framework to meet the evolving regulatory requirements in each market. Wilcox's appointment is expected to further enhance these efforts.
