NVIDIA has launched a special tech demo to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its legendary GeForce 8800 GTX graphics card, which first hit store shelves on November 8, 2006.
The GeForce 8800 GTX graphics card revolutionized gaming when it was released nearly two decades ago. To mark this milestone, NVIDIA has unveiled a special tech demo that allows enthusiasts to experience unboxing the legendary GPU themselves.
Titled "GeForce 8800 GTX – 20 Years of a Legend," the demo was created by Dylan Brown, developer of the strategy game "Through the Ages." It's currently available on Steam and will be coming to GeForce NOW for Ultimate subscribers at a later date.
Virtual Unboxing Experience
The tech demo transports users back to 2006, where they can virtually unbox the GeForce 8800 GTX, examine it in detail, and install it in a PC. Players can also explore the room and discover Easter eggs that reference the history of the GeForce series.
The demo showcases modern technologies including DLSS 4.5 with Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, Ray Reconstruction, path tracing and Mega Geometry, demonstrating how far graphics technology has advanced since the original card's release.
