Trump Media Bitcoin Transfer of 4,259 BTC Nearly Matches Pledged Loan Collateral
Trump Media & Technology Group (DJT) transferred 4,259 Bitcoin (BTC) to Crypto.com, nearly matching the BTC pledged as collateral for $1 billion in convertible notes, according to Lookonchain.
The transfer, valued at $343.67 million, leaves Trump Media with just over 1 BTC remaining in its treasury, according to Arkham Intelligence. The coins nearly match the 4,260.73 BTC that Trump Media pledged in its June 30 filing to secure $1 billion in convertible notes, which debt holders can swap for shares.
However, loan terms bar withdrawal of the collateral until certain conditions are met or May 2028 at the latest. This restriction cuts against a quick sale, though Crypto.com serves as one of two custodians for the company's Bitcoin treasury, making a custody shift plausible.
November 30 Deadline
November 30 is a critical date as noteholders can demand cash at par value. Conversion appears distant since the notes convert near $34.72 per share, while DJT recently closed at a record low of $4.49. The company held only $425 million in cash and short-term investments at June 30 against roughly $1 billion in notes.
If DJT stays near record lows, noteholders may prefer cash over shares, which could pressure the BTC collateral.
Political Pressure Mounts
With Democrats now controlling both chambers, the House Oversight Committee plans to examine Trump family crypto deals. House Democrats are also discussing a crypto bill that would likely add limits on Trump's crypto business, potentially affecting the company's Bitcoin strategy.
Until the next quarterly filing, the transfer proves movement, not intent. The result will show whether Bitcoin treasuries financed with convertible debt can meet cash demands without selling coins, as DJT continues its rapid decline.
