Fidelity purchased $236.72 million worth of Bitcoin on November 5, 2026, following a single-day inflow of $236.7 million into its spot Bitcoin ETF FBTC.

Fidelity just went shopping, and the receipt is long. The asset manager bought $236.72 million worth of Bitcoin, a purchase directly tied to a surge in client demand for its spot Bitcoin ETF. When investors send that much money into a fund built to hold Bitcoin, the fund must go buy actual Bitcoin to back those investments.

Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund, which trades under the ticker FBTC, logged net inflows of $236.7 million on November 5, 2026, according to data from Farside Investors. The fund holds real Bitcoin, not futures contracts or other paper bets on where the price might go.

Unprecedented inflow

For context, FBTC's recent track record shows plenty of activity, just not always at this scale. The fund has recorded client purchases in the range of $23 million to $25 million on multiple trading days in 2026. Those are respectable numbers, but they're roughly a tenth of what showed up on November 5.

The fund has seen larger spikes before. On October 13, FBTC pulled in $103 million in a single session. The November 5 inflow more than doubled that October figure.

ETF structure

FBTC carries a 0.25% expense ratio, the annual fee investors pay for the convenience of holding Bitcoin through a brokerage account instead of managing wallets and private keys themselves. Fidelity also handles custody in-house through Fidelity Digital Assets, its crypto-focused arm.

Many ETF issuers outsource that job to third-party custodians, so keeping it internal is a notable structural choice.

Corporate demand

ETF flows are only one piece of the demand picture. Fidelity Digital Assets has also been tracking companies that hold Bitcoin on their balance sheets. According to Fidelity Digital Assets, preferred stock issuances by Bitcoin treasury companies helped fund purchases of 135,979 BTC through early October 2026.

That works out to more than 0.5% of Bitcoin's circulating supply. These companies raise money by selling preferred shares to investors, then use the proceeds to buy Bitcoin. The corporate treasury angle adds another layer worth monitoring, as that demand operates somewhat independently of retail investor sentiment.
