Apple Joins 59-Company Strike to Freeze U.S. Stock Tokenization
Apple has officially blocked the launch of tokenized trading in its shares on the new American platform OKXICE TSV, joining 59 companies in exercising their veto rights.
By exercising its thirty-day veto right under the SEC's "innovation exception," the iPhone manufacturer has supported a large-scale demarche by issuers. As of November 2026, the number of boycotting companies reached 59, effectively paralyzing the largest regulatory experiment on crossing Wall Street with the crypto market.
Coordinated Resistance
The OKXICE TSV project—a joint venture between crypto exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, owner of the NYSE—was preparing to launch round-the-clock on-chain trading through Uniswap v4 pools on the XLayer blockchain. However, the listing has been blocked by six of the seven members of the "Magnificent Seven" tech stocks (all except Meta), as well as SpaceX, The Home Depot, GE Vernova, JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs.
Three more issuers have objected to @okx/@ICE_Markets tokenizing their shares, bringing the total to 59: Apple The Home Depot GE Vernova Six of the Magnificent Seven have now objected. Meta wasn't on the original list.
Market Forces
Insiders link this coordinated refusal to corporations' unwillingness to lose control over capital and to behind-the-scenes pressure from Nasdaq, which actively persuaded issuers to derail the initiative. This boycott has exposed a deep regulatory gap: while the legal union of traditional finance and decentralized finance in the US has been paused, international capital has long been trading digital analogs of US securities outside the country.
By the end of 2026, with global Bitcoin ownership reaching 4.5–6% of the planet's population, autonomous blockchain liquidity has formed in offshore jurisdictions. On foreign venues like Kraken, Bybit and OKX, third-party versions of Apple shares are actively circulating, closed to American residents. The leader in liquidity is the AAPLx token from Backed Finance on Solana and Ethereum with 1:1 custodial backing, the AAPLon product from Ondo with automatic dividend reinvestment, and new AAPL tokens from Backpack.
