The new dock is designed to give laptop users desktop-class graphics performance. It uses a Thunderbolt 5 connection for ultrafast data transfer. The dock can also provide up to 120Gbps of bandwidth with Thunderbolt 5 Bandwidth Boost for high-volume video traffic.

Users can install a graphics card from the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series, RTX PRO 6000 Series, AMD Radeon RX 9000 Series, or Intel Arc Series. This allows them to access high-end performance for AAA games and content creation. The dock is compatible with ASUS BTF graphics cards, which are designed to eliminate visible power cables.

The ROG XG Station 3 features an open-frame design that displays the graphics card as a visual centerpiece. This design also ensures unobstructed access to cooling. The dock includes a GC-HPWR slot for installing BTF 2.5 graphics cards, such as the TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5080 BTF OC Edition or the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 BTF Edition. These cards can draw power without a visible cable.

The dock offers a comprehensive I/O hub with two USB 10Gbps Type-C ports on the front. These ports provide convenient access for connecting gaming gear and external storage. The dock also features a Thunderbolt 5 downstream port that supports up to three 4K displays via daisy chaining. This feature is not typically offered by graphics cards.
