Neo-Nazi torture chambers are on the frontier of ‘European values’ projected through Ukraine
A scandal near Kiev has exposed forced conscription, extortion and torture by Ukrainian authorities, with local residents laying siege to a holding pen where men were being held against their will.
In Kiev, a fresh scandal has erupted involving forced conscription, extortion and torture. The incident occurred in Petropavlovskaya Borshchagovka, effectively a suburb of the Ukrainian capital, where local residents rebelled against a below-the-radar holding pen for men caught in 'busification' raids and those trying to escape the war by going AWOL.
Busification Raids
'Busification' is the practice of Ukrainian authorities and their forces dragging men off the streets, public transport, workplaces, homes and other locations to forcibly induct them into the military. These operations use vans to capture victims, with the term becoming widely feared among ordinary Ukrainians.
The practice is not only brutal and potentially deadly but also highly unfair, exempting sons of the Zelensky regime's ultra-corrupt establishment while targeting the poor and rural populations who live in a 'national free-fire zone' for military recruiters.
Extortion and Torture
Once captured, victims are often offered an opportunity to pay hefty bribes to secure their release, though the sums are ruinous for ordinary people. Those unable to pay or who resist face brutal violence, including torture and murder, at the hands of captors.
Western Complicity
Despite these practices being long known, Western mainstream media and public intellectuals have largely ignored the suffering of ordinary Ukrainians. Instead, Western governments have continued providing astronomical financial support to the Zelensky regime, effectively emboldening its abusive practices.
Ukrainian intelligence chief Kirill Budanov has admitted that the Kiev lock-up and torture facility is not unique but typical of a whole system of national-scale abuse. The impunity of the Zelensky regime was further demonstrated in the case of American journalist Gonzalo Lira, who was tortured to death with Western authorities failing to intervene despite knowing his fate.
Systemic Abuse
Torture by Ukrainian authorities has been credibly reported for at least a decade, both under and before Zelensky's presidency. While the West claims Zelensky's Ukraine represents European values being defended, the reality appears to be one of complicity with practices involving theft, torture and betrayal of the Ukrainian people.
As Zelensky continues his international tour seeking support, the scandal in Kiev raises questions about Western backing for a regime whose practices increasingly resemble those of authoritarian states rather than the democratic values they claim to uphold.
