THORChain Halts Trading On 10 Blockchains After Ethereum Reorg Triggers 10 ETH Overpayment - Coinpedia
THORChain has paused trading on most of its supported blockchains after an Ethereum block reorganisation caused it to pay out 10 ETH it never received.
At 11:34 UTC on October 31, a one-block reorg on Ethereum dropped a 10 ETH deposit that THORChain had already counted.
The swap missed its price limit and was refunded, so the vault sent back 10 ETH that never arrived, while the user’s real deposit was also refunded.
THORChain’s solvency checker spotted the gap and stopped ETH swaps automatically.
Node operators halted ETH payouts within about two minutes, then froze all chains as a precaution, since the flaw could be repeated by attackers during future reorgs.
The user has returned the 10 ETH.
THORChain trading remains live only on AVAX, Base, RUNE and XRPL while developers prepare fixes.
