Frontier Airlines Issues Warning About Active Email Phishing Scam Targeting Passengers - Yahoo
Frontier Airlines has issued a mass warning to passengers about an active email phishing campaign attempting to steal personal and financial information.
The Denver-based carrier sent out an email to passengers on Monday, November 2, stating: 'We are aware of an active email phishing campaign targeting our customers. Frontier Airlines does not email customers requesting flight, reservation, payment or contact detail information. Do not respond to any email seeking this type of information.'
Scam tactics
According to Frontier, the company will never contact customers to request they 'revalidate or confirm an upcoming flight or reservation,' 're-enter or confirm credit card information,' or 'provide payment information to receive a partial or full refund.'
Passenger reports
A Reddit thread went viral over the weekend from one Frontier flyer who claimed to have received an email with their flight info, including confirmation number. The post accrued hundreds of comments from passengers who received similar emails, with many calling it 'one of the better scams I've seen.'
Protective measures
Frontier warns those who received the email not to click any links or buttons in the message, enter or re-enter credit card, payment, login, or personal information, reply to the message, or use contact information contained within it.
