NYSE expands tokenization push with firms serving nearly 99% of S&P 500
The New York Stock Exchange has expanded its tokenized securities initiative by adding four new transfer agent partners, bringing the total to six as it prepares to launch a blockchain-based trading platform.
The exchange has expanded its network to include Broadridge Financial Solutions, Computershare, Equiniti and Superstate alongside existing partners Securitize and tZERO. According to NYSE, the established providers Broadridge, Computershare and Equiniti collectively serve nearly 5,000 publicly listed companies, including almost 99% of the S&P 500.
This announcement continues the NYSE's long history of reimagining market infrastructure through thoughtful and deliberate innovation.
24/7 Trading Platform
The expansion follows NYSE's January announcement outlining a digital trading platform designed to support 24/7 stock trading, instant settlement, dollar-denominated orders and stablecoin funding. The proposed venue will combine NYSE's Pillar matching engine with blockchain-based systems for settlement and custody, with support for multiple blockchain networks.
Subject to regulatory approval, the platform will accommodate both third-party custodial tokens and issuer-sponsored tokenized securities. Both structures are intended to be fungible with traditionally issued shares, giving token holders equivalent dividend payments and shareholder voting rights.
Shareholder Services
Broadridge separately announced plans to provide blockchain-based shareholder governance and digital transfer agency services for the platform. The integration will support proxy voting, shareholder communications and digital identity verification, allowing investors to exercise voting rights through supported wallets and brokerage interfaces.
Broadridge currently processes more than $360 billion in tokenized assets daily through its distributed ledger repo platform. The new trading venue remains subject to regulatory approval, with no confirmed launch date.
