Banana Pi BPI-M8 – An Allwinner A733 SBC inspired by the Raspberry Pi 5 with PCIe FFC connector, UFS module socket
Banana Pi has introduced the BPI-M8, a credit card-sized single-board computer powered by an Allwinner A733 octa-core processor, positioning it as an alternative to the Raspberry Pi 5.
The BPI-M8 is built around an Allwinner A733 SoC featuring dual-core Arm Cortex-A76 processors clocked at up to 2.00 GHz, hexa-core Arm Cortex-A55 processors at up to 1.80 GHz, and a single-core RISC-V E902 real-time core. The device includes an Imagination Technologies BXM-4-64 MC1 GPU supporting OpenGL ES 3.2, Vulkan 1.3, and OpenCL 3.0.
Enhanced Connectivity
The board distinguishes itself with a 16-pin FFC PCIe connector and UFS module socket, offering expansion capabilities not commonly found in similar devices. It also features two MIPI CSI camera interfaces, four USB ports, and the standard 40-pin GPIO header.
Storage Options
Two variants are available: the BPI-M8A with 64GB eMMC flash storage, and the BPI-M8B with 16MB SPI NOR flash. Both models include 4GB of LPDDR5 RAM and support for 4Kp60/8Kp24 video decoding.
