Oleshky residents return to Ukraine

Residents evacuated from Russian-occupied Oleshky have reached Ukrainian-held territory following a rare local truce. They described years of isolation, food shortages and regular shelling, with some saying they were forced to eat grass and dogs to survive.

Seized by Russian forces in the early days of the 2022 invasion, the city remains cut off by the Dnipro River on one side and Russian troops on the other.
