Talis Protocol NFT Market on Injective Exploited; 5,700 NFTs Stolen - KuCoin
On October 31, the Cosmos ecosystem NFT marketplace Talis Protocol revealed that an attacker exploited a vulnerability in its market and auction contracts on Injective, resulting in approximately 5,700 NFTs being stolen.
In response to the security breach, Talis Protocol has suspended all new listings and auctions on Injective and other chains as a precautionary measure. The project has already returned over 26,000 NFTs from the contract to their respective holders, though users are advised not to buy, list, or bid on Talis until the fix is confirmed secure.
Recovery Plan
The Talis team has documented every affected NFT, its original holder, and the transaction price following the theft. They are developing a comprehensive plan to return the stolen NFTs to their rightful owners and compensate affected bidders. An official list of compromised assets will be published soon, with a warning not to purchase these NFTs during the recovery period.
The patched contract is ready and undergoing review prior to deployment, with a timeline to be announced shortly.
Background
Founded in 2021, Talis Protocol completed a $2.35 million private funding round in November of that same year. The platform operates as an NFT marketplace within the Cosmos ecosystem, with a presence on multiple blockchain networks including Injective.
