Name.com Restores 15 Domains After DeFi Website Redirects - www.tokenpost.com
Name.com, a domain registrar, restored 15 customer domains that were redirected on October 30, raising concerns about at least 12 DeFi websites used to access crypto services.
The company confirmed all affected domains had been restored and that it had taken steps to secure the compromised accounts. Vercel reported that 10 of the affected domains were connected to its platform and that it was assisting in the investigation alongside Name.com.
Attack Details
According to Name.com, the redirects were part of an effort to reach visitors' crypto wallets. Blockaid's initial warning described a potential front-end attack at Flap and Kintsu, with a follow-up identifying 10 additional websites actively serving Step Drainer.
The warnings concerned project websites. Several affected teams said their on-chain contracts had not been affected.
Investigation Ongoing
Name.com continues to investigate the redirects, while noting that the alert tally and the company's domain count have different scopes. The incident highlights ongoing security challenges in the DeFi space, where front-end attacks can compromise user interactions without affecting underlying smart contracts.
