EU und Kanada erzielen Einigung über kritische Mineralien und LNG
The European Union and Canada have agreed to deepen cooperation on critical minerals and liquefied natural gas (LNG) as part of broader efforts to strengthen relations between the two democratic partners.
These commitments are part of broader efforts to deepen relations between the EU and Canada, which view themselves as like-minded democracies in a world increasingly moving away from the post-World War II international rules-based order. The agreement aims to build an even closer partnership between Canada and the EU across multiple sectors.
Critical Minerals Cooperation
The joint declaration emphasizes intensified cooperation to promote investments in projects in the area of critical raw materials both in Canada and in the EU along the entire value chain – including extraction, processing, refining, manufacturing and recycling. The two nations also committed to exploring opportunities for cooperation on raw materials projects in third countries that have been identified as projects of mutual interest.
Broader Partnership
Beyond critical minerals and LNG, the agreement covers security, trade, technology and artificial intelligence, competition policy, financial services, and cultural exchange. This comprehensive approach reflects both entities' strategic alignment in addressing global challenges and economic opportunities in an evolving geopolitical landscape.
