Binance hit by largest-ever crypto theft, with $6.3 billion stolen
Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange by daily trading volume, has been targeted in a security breach resulting in the theft of approximately $6.3 billion in cryptocurrency.
In an update on October 30, Binance revealed that attackers may have used a compromised laptop belonging to a DevOps engineer to access a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. The exchange has emphasized that "no evidence of any wallet private key leak" has been found.
Complex Attack Process
Binance co-CEO Richard Teng clarified that the incident involved a more complex process rather than a single "one-click" action. Investigators have identified additional breach points beyond the initial compromised laptop entry.
We have found no evidence of any wallet private key leak.
