RTX 5080 Is The Next GPU To Disappear From NVIDIA’s Online Marketplace Following Reports That A 24GB VRAM Variant Is Arriving Soon - Wccftech
NVIDIA has removed the RTX 5080 from its online marketplace, following similar disappearance of the RTX 5090 earlier this month, amid reports of a new 24GB VRAM model coming before 2027.
The RTX 5080's removal follows the earlier disappearance of NVIDIA's flagship RTX 5090 from the company's online marketplace. Both high-end graphics cards are no longer available, with the fastest currently listed being the RTX 5070 Ti. The removal comes shortly after reports emerged about NVIDIA developing a 24GB VRAM model for the RTX 5080, potentially launching before 2027.
Before its disappearance, the RTX 5080's price soared past $2,000 at various retailers, indicating inventory depletion. The marketplace now only shows custom variants of lower-end cards, with ASUS options available at substantial premiums.
New model details
It remains unclear whether the upcoming 24GB RTX 5080 will resemble the previously reported RTX 5080 SUPER, which was expected to feature the GB203-450 GPU with higher clock speeds and faster memory. The increased VRAM would allow NVIDIA to target multiple customer segments, particularly those running local AI models with larger parameter counts.
One benefit of the 24GB VRAM is that NVIDIA can now target multiple customer bases with the upcoming release.
The additional memory would provide flexibility for running quantized 27B parameter models, addressing limitations of the current 16GB framebuffer. However, the ongoing DRAM crisis suggests the new model may not be priced accessibly, with inadequate supply likely leading to inflated prices.
