Microsoft hopefully fixes Modern Standby and adds online Windows reinstallation
Microsoft has released an update addressing Windows' Modern Standby issues and introduced Cloud Rebuild for online Windows reinstallation.
Microsoft has released an update addressing Windows' Modern Standby feature, which has struggled with determining when to transition between regular sleep and hibernation, often leaving users with dead batteries. The update improves the adaptive hibernate policy to provide more instant-on resumes while preserving battery life.
Battery Management
The changes include less hibernation when the battery is above 80% and earlier hibernation when the charge drops below 10%. These adjustments aim to prevent the frustrating experience of opening a laptop to find an empty battery.
Cloud Rebuild Feature
The update introduces Cloud Rebuild, allowing devices to install Windows without requiring a local image. This feature can be initiated from within an existing installation, remotely by administrators, or through the Windows Recovery Environment, though it requires an internet connection.
Network Transition
Microsoft has also added CLAT to this update, which helps smooth the transition from IPv4 to IPv6 protocols, addressing another aspect of the operating system's connectivity capabilities.
