HTX exits UK, leaving customers to request a 48-hour withdrawal window
Crypto exchange HTX has exited the UK market following a settlement with the Financial Conduct Authority, blocking deposits and trading for UK customers.
The FCA announced the settlement outcome on October 29, 2026, confirming that HTX is no longer active in the UK. New users cannot register, and the exchange will no longer target UK consumers. Existing UK accounts cannot transact across HTX's products and services.
Eligible individuals holding residual assets must contact customer support to request a one-time, 48-hour withdrawal window. Access depends on licence conditions and HTX's compliance checks, including identity, ownership, sanctions, anti-money laundering, and security verifications.
Withdrawal Process
Approved users must personally withdraw their remaining assets within the 48-hour period. They may submit transactions for different asset types, with each transaction subject to destination-wallet, blockchain, and security controls. HTX will not transfer assets for users and will close accounts after full withdrawal.
Affected users must contact [email protected] from their registered email address with personal-use confirmation. Reporting obligations to HM Treasury or other authorities may also apply.
Court Undertakings Until 2031
A High Court order from October 27 records Huobi Global S.A.'s undertakings until October 21, 2031, against knowingly communicating financial promotions that breach the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. These commitments cover HTX websites, applications, and social media.
The undertakings cover HTX websites, applications and social media. The 2031 date applies to those commitments and does not establish when trading might resume.
The FCA began proceedings on October 21, 2025, and publicly announced the action on February 10, 2026, describing it as its first enforcement action against a crypto firm for illegally marketing products to UK consumers.
