Volkswagen posts $6.5 billion quarterly loss amid China slump, Porsche writedown
Volkswagen has announced a 5.8 billion euro ($6.5 billion) after-tax loss for the July-September quarter, driven by one-time charges and weak demand in China.
The German automaker's financial struggles were compounded by a 6.4 billion euro reduction in the value of its stake in luxury carmaker Porsche. Sales revenue decreased 6.3% to 80.3 billion euros compared to the same period last year.
China challenges
China, once a key profit center for Volkswagen, now presents significant challenges as the company faces declining car demand and intense price competition from local manufacturers.
Restructuring ahead

The results highlight the difficulties Volkswagen faces as it implements a restructuring plan that could eliminate up to 100,000 jobs and close four German plants.
