Ripple CEO Addresses the One Rumor XRP Holders Kept Asking About
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse firmly rejected rumors that the company has abandoned its native token XRP in favor of its stablecoin RLUSD during the Swell 2026 conference in New York.
Market watchers had speculated that Ripple was pivoting away from XRP to focus on its stablecoin RLUSD, but Garlinghouse addressed the claims directly.
He emphasized that the company remains fully committed to XRP, describing the current momentum around the token as profound.
We will never give up on XRP
RLUSD as a complementary product
Garlinghouse clarified that RLUSD is not a competitor but rather a contributor to XRP's momentum, viewing the two as complementary.
The stablecoin has seen significant growth, with a market cap of $2.6 billion, up more than 88% this year.
Ripple also secured final approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency for its National Trust Bank, raising questions about the benefits of its expansion.
Record year and high-profile attendees
Ripple reported a banner year, on track to exit 2026 with $900 million in annualized product revenue, marking its best performance to date.
The 10th annual Swell conference, which included the XRPL Apex developer summit, drew US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who predicted the USD stablecoin market could reach $2 trillion by 2028.
CTO Emeritus David Schwartz also joined the discussions, reinforcing the company's focus on XRP.
