Ukraine: massive fire engulfs buildings after Russian strike on Kharkiv
Five people, including a 4-year-old child, were injured in an overnight Russian drone strike on Kharkiv that set several buildings ablaze.
The attack occurred late on Tuesday, 27 October, in the Osnovianskyi district of Kharkiv. Fires spread across approximately 2,500 square metres, engulfing an apartment block, private homes, outbuildings and three industrial premises.
Nearby tower blocks, garages and cars were also damaged in the strike. Footage shows firefighters tackling the flames while rescue workers help residents evacuate as smoke rises over the neighborhood.
Three of the five injured individuals were taken to hospital for treatment. Despite the ongoing threat of further Russian strikes, emergency crews successfully brought the blaze under control.
Psychologists have been deployed to assist those affected by the attack. The incident highlights the continued vulnerability of Ukrainian cities to Russian strikes despite international condemnation of such attacks.
