'Cannibal who killed and ate 38 people' is arrested in Uganda: Top cop vows 'we'll definitely execute him'
A man accused of killing and eating 38 people over 15 years has been arrested in Uganda, with authorities vowing to execute him.
An alleged cannibal who is accused of killing and eating nearly 40 people has been arrested in Uganda and could face execution. Over a 15-year period between 2010 and 2025, 'evil' Mujurizi Moses is suspected of having butchered 38 people in Masaka, Ibanda and Kazo.
Police vow execution
Uganda's top police officer has described Moses as the worst serial killer and cannibal in the country's history. General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, chief of defence forces, confirmed the arrest and promised public trial and execution.
I am glad to inform our fellow citizens that the security forces have arrested the evil Mujurizi Moses. The worst serial killer and cannibal in Uganda's history. He killed and ate 38 people between 2010-2025 in Masaka, Ibanda and Kazo. We will try him in public and definitely execute him.
Modus operandi
Moses allegedly targeted whole families by breaking into their homes and killing them with a machete. According to local investigators, he would drill through walls before attacking his victims. One confirmed victim was Pentecostal pastor Steven Mugambe.
The killer cannibal allegations first emerged when Ugandan citizens came forward to police, claiming Moses had murdered their relatives. Authorities are now probing missing person cold cases to investigate potential links to Moses.
Previous escapes
Moses had allegedly been captured by authorities multiple times but either escaped or was released under disputed circumstances. In September 2026, he faced murder and human trafficking charges after a woman was killed in Greater Masaka in what investigators called a 'ritual murder'.
