A drone strike in Nyala, Sudan, killed at least 21 people and injured 40 others at a market on Monday evening, according to medical sources and witnesses.
The attack took place at approximately 8pm local time on Monday at a market in northern Nyala, which serves as the de facto capital of Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces in the western Darfur region.
A medic at Nyala Hospital confirmed the casualties on Tuesday, stating: "Twenty-one people were killed in last night's bombing, and more than 40 others injured."
RSF-controlled area
Another Nyala resident told AFP that the market was frequented by armed men, particularly RSF fighters. The Sudanese military has been at war with the RSF since April 2023.
