Binance files for Brazil crypto license ahead of Friday deadline
Binance has submitted a cryptocurrency service provider license application to Brazil's Central Bank on Oct. 23, just days before the Oct. 30 regulatory deadline.
The application through its local entity BBrasil aims to preserve Binance's presence in one of Latin America's most significant cryptocurrency markets. The company has also announced service changes effective Tuesday, including restrictions on crypto lending and margin trading, plus the delisting of 22 crypto assets in Brazil.
Service Changes
Despite the filing, Binance has implemented limitations for Brazilian users while maintaining access to core services like crypto assets, stablecoin trading, payments and investment options. The exchange emphasized its support for regulated markets that balance technological advancement with appropriate oversight.
We support a regulated market that considers the characteristics of virtual assets, so that access to technology and innovation continues to advance, but we hope that the ongoing dialogue with the Central Bank will allow us to offer, in the near future, other products that were discontinued to comply with current regulations.
Regulatory Deadline
Brazil's regulatory framework requires existing crypto service providers to submit authorization applications by Oct. 30 to continue operating under transitional arrangements. The company's application submission does not constitute regulatory approval, leaving its future operations in the country subject to the Central Bank's review.
