Former FBI director James Comey hit with third set of charges under Trump
Former FBI Director James Comey has been accused of unlawfully divulging national security information in a third set of criminal charges brought by the Trump administration.
Sealed documents revealed on Monday show the Trump administration has accused Comey of two counts related to the unlawful dissemination of "information related to national defence." The former FBI director, who was fired during Trump's first term and has been a prominent critic of the president, has not been formally indicted in this case.
Political Retaliation
This marks the third time the Trump administration has pursued criminal charges against Comey since Trump returned to office in January 2025. Comey addressed the new charges in a video on Substack, denouncing them as political retribution.
Well, now they're back again. it would almost be funny if it weren't such an appalling abuse of the Department of Justice, one that we cannot become numb to.
Future Expectations
Comey maintained his innocence in the video, stating he is "not afraid of these people" and maintains faith in the federal judiciary. He also noted that Trump is only halfway through his second term and hinted he anticipates additional criminal charges.
