$29 Billion More for XRP: Aviva Partners With Ripple for Milestone RWA Deal
Aviva Investors has launched a tokenized share class for its £22 billion Sterling Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger blockchain.
The deployment represents a significant milestone for blockchain adoption in traditional finance, though only a small fraction of the total fund is being tokenized. Aviva itself invested £50 million in this new on-chain tranche, bringing its total digital assets in Europe to just over £86 million.
Digital Twin Approach
Rather than restructuring the entire fund, Aviva implemented an elegant "Digital Twin" scheme. The XRP Ledger acts as an electronic notary recording ownership rights, while the actual funds remain in traditional jurisdiction with regulatory shields intact.
The deal's architecture was divided among three industry heavyweights: BNY Mellon maintains physical assets, Komainu guarantees digital wallet security, and Licuido handles the tokenization pipeline.
Institutional Adoption
Access to the tokenized fund is restricted exclusively to professional investors after thorough KYC checks. This move demonstrates how conservative financial institutions can experiment with blockchain while maintaining compliance and risk management.

Future of Settlements
The partnership signals the financial sector's shift toward 24/7 settlement systems, moving beyond traditional banking day limitations. For the XRP community, this launch provides concrete evidence of institutional adoption for regulated, real-world applications.
While representing just 0.4% of Aviva's total fund, the deal opens XRP infrastructure to a market worth tens of billions across the Atlantic, potentially scaling the network's potential significantly.
