The State of Idaho responds after 'global cybersecurity vulnerability' - Yahoo
The State of Idaho has issued a public notice regarding a global cybersecurity vulnerability and is taking steps to protect its systems.
The state's cybersecurity page posted a notice about a new, disclosed global cybersecurity issue without providing exact details. The guidance focuses on mitigating PHP2Shell vulnerabilities. The notice states that the pace of information and required actions may shift between rapid developments and sustained efforts.
The State of Idaho is prioritizing the strengthening of systems that connect directly to the internet, including firewalls, and the protection of public-facing websites. Officials are collaborating with local and federal partners to share intelligence and align protective actions.
"As with large-scale cybersecurity events, the pace of new information and required actions may shift between rapid developments and slower, sustained efforts. Throughout this evolving situation, our top priority remains the protection of state systems and the continuity of essential public services."
Fish and Game website replaced
On Oct. 22, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) replaced its website with a static, minimal webpage. The agency posted on Facebook that this was a proactive measure to minimize the risk of a potential security vulnerability.
IDFG told KTVB they were informed of the potential security vulnerability and are working with the Idaho Office of Information Technology Services to solve the issue.
"the State of Idaho is working proactively to secure state systems, including the Idaho Department of Fish and Game's website."
Kristin Bartz clarified that IDFG's situation is not related to the global PHP cybersecurity issue.
