Nvidia eyes converting old nuclear plants into massive AI data centers

The U.S. chipmaker and the German energy firm announced their preliminary collaboration on October 21st. They will evaluate whether PreussenElektra's decommissioned nuclear power plant sites can be transformed into high-performance AI data centers.

Infrastructure Reuse

By reusing existing grid connections, land, and industrial infrastructure, the companies aim to significantly cut development time compared to building from scratch. This approach could address growing demand for AI computing capacity while utilizing existing facilities.
