Live: Hundreds of protests expected in France amid high tensions and heavy police presence
Hundreds of protests are expected across France on Saturday as a coalition of the 'Yellow Vests' movement, labor unions and students march with demands centered around studying conditions and purchasing power.
The protests come amid high tensions in France, with authorities deploying a massive police force of 70,000 officers. Last Saturday's demonstrations saw at least 550,000 participants and were accompanied by significant unrest, including ransacking and looting.
The coalition of protesters is united in their demands for better studying conditions and improved purchasing power, reflecting ongoing economic and social concerns in the country.
French authorities are preparing for potential escalation during Saturday's demonstrations, with increased security measures in place across major cities where protests are expected to occur.
