OBS Studio 33.0 Released With Massive Update To CEF, Improved Plugin Loading
The open-source video recording and live streaming application OBS Studio 33.0 is out with a significant update to its underlying technology.
OBS Studio 33.0 is the latest major release for the popular open-source and cross-platform video recording and live streaming application.
The update features a 'massive update' to the Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF), jumping from version 127 to version 150.
This jump represents over two years of changes to the framework, which is a core component of the application.
Plugin and Feature Improvements
The release also includes overhauled plugin loading code that restructures first and third-party plugins.
Other improvements include better source snapping in the video preview mode and improved behavior for number value spinboxes.
The update enables NVIDIA NVENC video encoding support on ARM64 platforms with NVIDIA GPUs.
It also adds support for the newest NVIDIA Broadcast SDKs and improves the detection of full-screen games in Game Capture mode.
System Requirements and Availability
The update retires support for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, marking a shift in supported operating systems.
