ZTE unveils data center module designed for AI workloads
Chinese tech firm ZTE has unveiled the ZXEDC M8000 Intelligent Computing Micro-Module, an integrated data center solution designed specifically for AI workloads.
The company introduced the product at Data Center World Asia, highlighting its comprehensive design that includes an enclosed cold aisle, liquid-cooled racks, network infrastructure, and power systems. The M8000 can support both general-purpose and AI hybrid deployments, offering flexibility for different computing needs.
Power and Cooling Capabilities
ZTE states that rack power within the module will range from 20kW to 60kW, with a peak of 250kW per rack. The cooling architecture uses a shared air-and-liquid source, allowing operators to adjust the ratio between the two cooling methods. The system can achieve a PUE as low as 1.15 through free cooling technology.
The 800V HVDC system, paired with intelligent busbars for in-row power distribution, is rated at up to 98 percent power supply efficiency.
Innovation and Certification
ZTE claims the M8000 is the first liquid cooling solution to receive UL system-level leak-proof certification. The company also emphasizes that one architecture can support three generations of IT hardware upgrades, reducing the need for large-scale retrofits as capacity grows.
This launch follows ZTE's similar modular unit from last year, the AIDC Prefabricated Container Solution, which also achieved a PUE of 1.15 through advanced cooling techniques. The company has traditionally focused on telecoms, including 5G networks, having recently partnered with U Mobile, Italy's EOLO, and SLT-Mobitel for 5G upgrades.
