Capcom Data Breach Results In Unauthorised Access To More Than 11.7 Million 'CAPCOM ID' Accounts - Nintendo Life
Video game company Capcom has suffered a major data breach, exposing personal information of over 11.7 million CAPCOM ID accounts worldwide.
The data leak includes emails, client IP addresses used during the last login, and other details such as account creation dates. Only 43 cases leaked additional information like birth dates, gender, country/region and nicknames.
Security Response
Capcom reports that 196 Capcom ID account login passwords were changed, but the company has already reset these passwords and continues to investigate the scope of any impact.
Account System Details
CAPCOM ID is a unified account system that allows players to manage various Capcom games and access certain features. For titles like Street Fighter 6, it enables online play, cross-play functionality, and in-game bonuses.
Capcom has confirmed that credit card information was not included in the data breach and will be reaching out to affected customers over time. Users with Capcom IDs are advised to update their passwords and account details as a precaution.
