Two Pallets of RTX 5090s Vanish From São Paulo Airport, One Card Already Listed Online - TechPowerUp
Three airport workers have been identified as suspects in the theft of two pallets of ZOTAC GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards worth approximately $470,000 from Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo, Brazil.
The theft occurred on September 21 when two outsourced forklift operators moved the pallets out of the cargo terminal's warehouse, while a third employee, a checker, released the goods in the electronic system. The cards were then loaded onto a truck and have not been seen since.
Online Appearance
One of the stolen RTX 5090 cards has already appeared on the online marketplace OLX priced at R$32,000 (about $6,000). Brazil's Jornal da Band reported that the serial number matched one of the imported cards, though the listing has since been removed.
Two pallets don't just vanish on their own inside an international airport.
High-Value Target
The stolen shipment is worth significantly more on the black market due to high demand for RTX 5090 cards in AI workloads, with some listings going for over $8,000. This theft follows previous incidents of missing GPU shipments, including containers of MSI RTX 3090 cards and a truckload of EVGA cards.
