Moment Colombian authorities seize 7.6 tonnes of cocaine bound for Europe
Colombian authorities have seized 7.6 tonnes of cocaine at the port of Cartagena, destined for the Netherlands, in what President Abelardo de la Espriella called the country's largest drug seizure in a decade.
The seizure took place on October 20, 2026, at Cartagena port, where authorities discovered the massive cocaine shipment before it could be transported to Europe. President de la Espriella emphasized the significance of this operation during his remarks in Cartagena, highlighting it as a major victory against drug trafficking.
The cocaine, valued at 43 billion Colombian pesos domestically, would have been worth over $200 million once it reached the Netherlands, according to official estimates. The operation was conducted in cooperation with the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), demonstrating international collaboration in combating drug trafficking.
