Why Is Lighter Up 23% This Week? 2 Catalysts Explain the Move
Lighter (LIT) cryptocurrency jumped 23.49% this week, outperforming a broader market decline, after reports highlighted its trading platform and plans to seek CFTC licensing.
Lighter (LIT) climbed 12.85% over the past 24 hours, the biggest gain among the 100 largest cryptocurrencies. That took its seven-day advance to 23.49%, with the token now trading at $3.83. The broader market fell more than 2% over the same period, with every large-cap token trading in the red.
Research Endorsement
Delphi Digital published a report on October 20 recommending platforms that profit from trading through fees or user distribution. Lighter appeared alongside Robinhood and Hyperliquid (HYPE) in the report, which cited its zero fees for retail traders and distribution through Robinhood Wallet.
Lighter is the clearest second bet.
Regulatory Path
Following the research note, Lighter announced plans to apply to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in November. Founder Vladimir Novakovski emphasized that Lighter has been working with the CFTC to shape DeFi perps rules for the past few months.
The token still trades at less than half its December peak of $7.86. Traders will be watching the November CFTC filing closely, as new supply begins vesting in January 2027, with the first monthly release covering about 13.5 million tokens.
