Rotary encoder with 1.8-inch touch display gets upgrade to ESP32-S31 SoC
GUITION has released the JC3636F118C-I-YR1 rotary encoder, featuring a built-in 1.8-inch touchscreen display and upgraded to the ESP32-S31NRV16 system-on-chip.
Following previous coverage of a 4.3-inch ESP32-S31 display development board, a Facebook reader highlighted the new GUITION JC3636F118C-I-YR1 rotary encoder with an integrated 1.8-inch touchscreen display. This appears to be an upgrade to an earlier ESP32-S3 model, now featuring the more advanced ESP32-S31NRV16 system-on-chip.
The device incorporates significant technical improvements, including WiFi 6 support, Bluetooth 5.4 with LE Audio capabilities, and 802.15.4 radio for Zigbee, Thread, and Matter protocols. The SoC features dual RISC-V cores running at 320 MHz, providing both high-performance and low-power operation modes.
Enhanced specifications
The rotary encoder now includes 16MB of PSRAM and 16MB of SPI flash storage, expanding its capabilities for complex applications. Additional hardware features include a speaker, microphone, and optional rechargeable battery, making it suitable for voice-enabled and portable embedded projects.
A microSD card slot allows for expanded storage, supporting WiFi configuration files, music playback, and MJPEG video playback. The 1.8-inch display provides a compact interface for user interaction while maintaining functionality for various embedded applications.
Target applications
The upgraded rotary encoder appears designed for developers and engineers working on IoT devices, industrial controls, and multimedia systems. The combination of rotary input, touch display, and comprehensive wireless connectivity makes it versatile for prototyping and final product development.
