GTA 6 Trailer Features 'Dacity' Meme Coin—Here's What Traders Think It'll Do
Crypto traders have created a real-world Dacity meme coin after the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer featured the fictional cryptocurrency, driving its market cap to $15 million.
The recent Grand Theft Auto 6 launch trailer briefly mentioned a "Dacity Coin," and crypto traders are speculating on how involved the apparent meme coin will be in-game. Some believe it'll feature in a few side missions, while others believe it'll be a fully tradeable in-game asset.
In response, crypto degens have created an unofficial Solana meme coin of the same name and pumped it to a peak market capitalization of $15 million. Traders say they are essentially gambling on the prominence of Dacity Coin in GTA 6, believing that if it is deeply integrated, it'll lead to bigger gains—despite the Solana token having no official ties to the game.
Mission Theory
Some traders believe the Dacity Coin will appear in missions where players need to promote it to earn money. This theory is supported by leaked gameplay showing protagonist Lucia being asked to perform a stunt to attract investment to the coin.
According to a leaked screenshot, someone tells Lucia during the mission: "Give them a show. They'll buy Dacity Coin before they even know what it is." The official trailer shows a wing walker setting off a smoke bomb atop a plane with Dacity Coin branding.
Trading Potential
Dacity Coin appears connected to an in-game brand called AudaCity, which seems to be the company behind the coin according to the GTA wiki. Some traders believe the meme coin will be more than just side missions.
Nicstho said the bull thesis is that Dacity Coin could be an in-game currency spendable in both single-player and multiplayer, which would be "huge" for the real-world token. Corey Ape suggested players might trade it like stocks in GTA V.
Corey Ape noted this is purely gut instinct, but makes sense given GTA V's stock investment feature. Nicstho acknowledged the real-world coin wasn't launched by Rockstar, suggesting they "just want to mog memecoin traders."
Market Impact
As speculation continues, the real-world Solana token has soared. One trader has unrealized profits of $285,000 from just a $20,000 investment, according to Pump.fun. However, these gains aren't realized and could disappear quickly, as is common with meme coins.
Crypto traders are now eagerly awaiting GTA 6's November release, hoping it'll pump their investments. Rockstar did not respond to Decrypt's request for comment on the matter.
