Colorful Manages 6600 MT/s At CL28 With 192 GB DDR5 Memory Kit On Its Latest X870E Ultra-S Motherboard - Wccftech
Chinese hardware maker Colorful has demonstrated a 192 GB DDR5 memory kit running at 6600 MT/s with just CL28 latency on its upcoming X870E Ultra-S motherboard.
Running such a high-capacity memory kit at 6000+ MT/s with less than CL30 is incredibly challenging, but Colorful managed it on its new X870E motherboard. The company used a 192 GB DDR5 memory kit featuring four sticks of 48 GB DDR5 from the iGame Shadow II DDR5 6000 CL30 kit.
The system involved the latest AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D processor, which has an excellent memory controller. However, achieving such high speeds with stability is difficult when using four DIMMs, as they place significant electrical load on the controller.
Technical Achievement
Memory overclocking on the AM5 platform has matured considerably since the Ryzen 9000 series release. While some DDR5 kits now hit 10,000 MT/s, reaching high frequencies with high-capacity kits remains a major challenge. Colorful has overcome this with its latest demonstration.
Such a tight latency is incredibly difficult to achieve at that speed with that amount of RAM.
Launch Details
Colorful has announced that the iGame X870E Ultra-S motherboard will launch shortly before China's November 11 Single's Day shopping festival. The company provided screenshots showing the configuration passed stability tests with flying colors.
