HYTOPIA opens WORLDS public browser alpha and goes back to its NFT Worlds roots - eGamers.io
HYTOPIA has opened a public browser alpha of WORLDS, returning to its NFT Worlds roots with an RPG focused on home worlds, crafting, and multiplayer exploration.
The studio confirmed the alpha launch at worldsalpha.com, representing a significant pivot from their previous broader gaming platform approach. "This is a return to our roots," the HYTOPIA team stated, acknowledging their initial vision to build a platform for other people's games didn't materialize as planned.
Gameplay features
WORLDS is an RPG centered around exploration, crafting, and home building. Players construct items at their home bases, embark on expeditions to gather resources, and can encounter travelers who may move in and provide daily resources. The alpha introduces improved handling for disconnects and party interactions, along with penalties for leaving expeditions early.
The game environment extends beyond basic block structures to include caves, underwater areas, and ancient ruins. Some treasures require defeating enemies or completing challenges. Core skills involve mining, crafting at various stations, and using gliders and diving gear for movement. Combat features diverse equipment against creatures and bosses.
Multiplayer and future
Up to four players can team up to visit each other's homes and explore together. The alpha is still in development, with the team warning that player progress will likely be reset when moving to public beta. Early testers may earn whitelist spots for a potential future free mint.
