A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 49-year-old woman whose body was found on August 28 in a forest complex near Kędzierzyn-Koźle. The victim was discovered by a passerby, and police launched an intensive investigation involving forensic analysis and surveillance footage. On September 1, officers spotted a man matching the description near the forest edge and detained him. Inside his backpack, they found a knife and a hammer, along with bloodstains. The suspect has also been linked to a brutal attack on a 67-year-old man in Opole in early July, who remains hospitalized with severe head injuries. He faces charges of murder and attempted murder and has admitted to both crimes. During questioning, the teenager stated he was being treated for paranoid schizophrenia and had stopped taking his medication. He also claimed to have used methamphetamine and heard voices commanding him to kill. The investigation is ongoing, and the court has ordered a three-month pre-trial detention.
